Educational/Emotional Empowerment

You are entering an arena where you will be rebuilt from the inside-out by choosing a therapeutic session through M.A.D.D. (Music, Art, Drama, and Dance).

Each therapeutic session is designed to be a stress and trauma relief tool before engaging in academic tutoring sessions. Our Educational Empowerment Sessions will be hosted by adult/peer mentors who are committed to your academic and intellectual growth.

Sessions are scheduled from 3-7 o’clock every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. We are fully aware of the Covid-19 protocols and safety guidelines and regulations; therefore, we are in the process of preparing to conduct virtual tutoring sessions. These virtual sessions will be available and scheduled upon request on designated days.

  • Music Therapeutic Moments

    Through music, research suggest that music can stimulate the body’s natural feel good chemicals. It can support and energize one’s mood and provide an outlet for individuals to take control of their feelings. Listening to music is a common method to cope with difficult periods in life. Therefore, prior to each tutoring session, students will be provided with relaxation tools to increase intellectual and academic performance.

  • Art Therapeutic Moments

    Through the engagement in the arts, there is scientific evidence that proves art enhances brain function. The arts are also a critical component of healthcare. Engagement with creative activities has the potential to reduce stress and promote student mental health and wellbeing. As a result, prior to each tutoring session, students will have access to relaxation resources to support increased intellectual and academic performance.

  • Drama Therapeutic Moments

    Through drama therapy, theatre techniques are incorporated to facilitate personal growth and promote mental health. This intervention technique helps to develop self-confidence, explore new problem-solving skills, and relieves stress. Therefore, prior to each tutoring session, students will be provided with relaxation tools as an avenue to increase intellectual and academic performance.

  • Dance Therapeutic Moments

    Through dance therapy, motion and emotions are connected. Dance is an expressive art that allows the movement of the body to express thoughts and feelings. Using this tool to eliminate depression and stress is necessary to support intellectual growth and academic performance. Therefore, prior to each tutoring session, students will be provided with relaxation tools as an avenue to increase intellectual and academic performance.
